The Hardy Ultradisc UDLA Reel is a very smooth, very lightweight reel with a unique frame design. The bottom half of the reel frame has a full cage design. With this unique frame design, it enables the modern day trout angler to use thin fly lines and even straight mono line systems, common in Euro style or Czech nymphing without the risk of the line jumping through the frame and the spool. Having the reel fully enclosed in the lower half of the reel  creates a counter balance, keeping the majority of the weight of the reel down low where it should be, yet it still allows for an overall lightweight package. Hardy has also left the outer rim of the spool exposed so the reel can be palmed as well. The disc drag on the Hardy Ultradisc UDLA reels is super smooth and has a wide range, allowing the angler to finely tune the drag as needed. They come in a very nice neoprene reel case from Hardy and are available in three sizes.
